Cinnamon Baked Apples

My husband LOVES apples, especially tart ones like granny smith. I try to push myself to feed my babe foods that not only I enjoy and eat regularly but also foods that my husband enjoys or maybe we don’t eat at all! Since apples typically require teeth to really crunch and bite into I wanted to find a way that I could make them baby safe besides just applesauce. Meh.

I skip the sugar on these baked apples since babe’s (or us adults really) don’t need much added sugar. The natural sugars mixed with the cinnamon make them pretty sweet. I originally made these for her but when I sampled them I decided mama needed these too. I like apples but I don’t really just love them but holy moley I do love these and have been making them every week! It might just be the butter but that’s okay 😉

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Peel apple, remove the core, and dice the apple into small bite-sized pieces for babe. If you are doing baby-led weaning skip cubing the apple and stick with apple slices.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.
  4. Place apples onto a medium baking sheet and drizzle with butter then the cinnamon. Mix well to coat the apples.
  5. Bake apples in the oven for about 20 minutes or until they are soft.
Recipe Notes
  • Traditional Weaning: Cut apples into bite-sized pieces appropriate for your babe. If you are still doing purees just dice then puree once cooked for cinnamon pureed apples!
  • Baby Led Weaning: To adjust for baby led weaning keep the apples in slices.
